Lou Stewart

A Senior Consultant with Focus on Results, Lou Stewart served as a teacher and administrator in California public schools for
35 years, most recently as the assistant superintendent in the Glendale Unified School District.  Ms. Stewart’s teaching
experience was in the areas of special education, middle school English, and English language development (ELD). In addition to
serving as assistant superintendent, her administrative experience includes positions as an elementary principal, a high school principal, and the director of special education.

 As principal of Paradise Canyon Elementary School in the La Canada Unified School District, Ms. Stewart led her school
community in earning the California Distinguished School award, and her leadership as principal at Balboa Elementary School in
Glendale
led to the Title I Achieving Schools Award.  As the principal at Glendale High School, Ms. Stewart targeted resources
toward student achievement in order to lead the school out of program improvement with an API growth of 70 points over her
three year tenure.

As a district level administrator in Glendale, Ms. Stewart provided staff development for school site instructional leadership
teams and coaching for individual principals.  She has extensive presentation experience as well as expertise in special education,
 “Response to Intervention” (RTI), and instructional strategies for English language learners.  Ms. Stewart was honored recently
by the Glendale Unified School District with the James Brown Leadership Award and by the San Fernando Valley Economic
Alliance with the Champion of Education Award.
