Linda Evans

A Senior Consultant with Focus On Results, Linda Evans has been worked with the FOR framework four years. As the principal of Crescenta Valley High School, she led the school’s Instructional Leadership Team, served on the Glendale Unified School District’s FOR writing team, and presented at District trainings. Linda shared the school’s progress following the FOR model at the Boston Summer Institute in 2008 and 2010. In June, she moved to the Glendale Unified School District where she serves as an Administrator on Special Assignment.

Linda brings direct experience translating the FOR strategies into building internal capacity in a school that has led to an increase in student mastery of standards, significantly closed the Hispanic achievement gap, and developed a highly effective Instructional Leadership Team. The school’s focus is critical thinking, and the goal is for all students to meet the four-year college entrance requirements. The school is currently celebrating the 2010 Academic Performance Index (API) of 883 and the Hispanic subgroup API of 831. The California API target is 800. During her tenure as principal the school has been names a National Blue Ribbon School and twice a California Distinguished School. The school places in the top 5% in both the Newsweek and US News and World Report rankings of the nation’s top high schools.

Linda knows that the school’s success in moving more students to mastery of standards is a result of extensive collaboration with teacher leaders who are involved in analyzing data, charting next steps to move the school forward, and providing targeted staff development to achieve well defined objectives. This is the FOR process at work. Linda has led that work and has made presentations on the work of the school at a number of conferences.

Linda graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in English and history. She earned a Masters in English from La Verne University and taught English for twenty-two years, grades 7-12. She also holds a California administrative credential.
